About us

“There is no better way to shrug off the pressures of modern living than to grab a bunch of mates and hit the road – immerse yourself in natural surroundings – and, while you’re out there…stop, cook up a storm and eat, drink and lekker kuier.  Then pack it all up and do it somewhere else.”

Waldu & Nic – we are two ordinary people who love travel, culture, and great food and wine.  We have been together just over 2 years as we set off for our adventure, and cannot think of a better way to see the world then to see it with each other.

Waldu is a Saffa, but we think of him as an Aussie these days (he’s been down under for 3 years).  He is the project planner, navigator , photographer and (of course) engineer for the trip.  While Waldu plans the trip, organises the car and puts his camping experience to good practice, Nicole is the travel  duo’s chief cook and admin officer – paperwork, paperwork, paperwork.   Leaving her high heels behind, Nic will be managing the change and (no surprises)…the communications.

We have explored parts of China, Europe, Africa and South America, but this adventure sees us travel to the road less travelled, together!

Thanks Greg, great to meet you and stay at your fabulous Kambro Cottages. Graaff-Reinet was our favourite stop on our Capetown roadtrip, and is one of the best places we have been (and stayed) on our world trip so far. We will definitely be back and look forward to catching up with you again. You must also come to Australia and stay with us, but I can’t say we can perfect the elephant towels – we will try though!

Hey you two!!! Are you back home safe and sound??? Working hard and planning that big wedding I hope? Did you have a nice time touring Australia before going home? All well here in Graaffies. Nice and cold but still a great place to live. Stay in touch. Regards.
